The 15th annual Arts/Writing Contest encourages students to learn about the Holocaust and to reflect on its lessons for our society.
Sponsored by the Holocaust Centre of Toronto and Canadian Jewish Congress Ontario Region.

ELIGIBILITY Open to all Ontario students: Grades 8 - 9 (Junior Division); Grades 10 - 12 (Senior Division)
FORMAT
Entries may include original essays, stories, drama scripts, poems, artwork or multimedia (video, DVD, CD).
DEADLINE
Entries must be postmarked or received no later than FRIDAY, APRIL 4, 2008.
AWARDS
Winners in each Division will be announced by Friday, May 16, 2008. Awards will be presented on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 5:30pm, Lipa Green Building, Room 420, 4600 Bathurst St., Toronto.
JUDGES The contest will be judged by a committee of distinguished educators and community leaders.
EACH ENTRY:
Must be the original work of the entrant.
Will be judged on originality, creativity, relevance to contest theme, and as well for written entries, grammar and writing mechanics.
Written works will also be judged on grammar and writing mechanics, must not exceed 1000 words and must be word processed, single sided and double spaced

Artwork and multimedia must be accompanied by an artist’s statement.
Winning entries will become the property of the Holocaust Centre of Toronto. Other entries may be retrieved from the Holocaust Centre up to September 15, 2008.

There will be two categories of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes (written & fine arts) in both divisions.
1st PLACE IN BOTH DIVISIONS Round trip air fare and accommodation to visit the
U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. A chaperone will be provided.
2nd PLACE IN BOTH DIVISIONS $100 Ontario Savings Bond towards post-secondary education
3rd PLACE IN BOTH DIVISIONS The Limited Edition Collectors Box Set of Schindler's List, including the film, CD soundtrack, original book by Thomas Keneally and photo book with introduction by director Steven Spielberg
All participants will receive a Certificate of Honour.
