Dialogue for Descendants

The Neuberger’s Dialogue for Descendants (D4D) committee provides specialized programming for children of Holocaust survivors and their partners. Launched in 2016, D4D features a full-day symposium during the Neuberger's annual Holocaust Education Week plus other dynamic and meaningful programs throughout the year.

Spring 2018 Program

Join D4D for an exciting program for descendants of Holocaust survivors and their partners. Filmmaker and York University Professor Julia Creet and journalist John Lorinc, who covers urban affairs for the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star, both grew up unaware that they were children of Holocaust survivors.

In this facilitated conversation, the speakers will share their respective discoveries of their hidden heritage, highlighting lesser-known stories of Holocaust survivors who tried to forget. Julia and John will offer alternative perspectives to the typical descendant narrative.

Prior to the program, attendees can visit the Neuberger’s
Anita Ekstein Holocaust Resource Library to search for their parents’ testimonies in the Canadian Collections of the USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive.
